After two years of development, Relic Entertainment and SEGA are proud to announce Company of Heroes - New Steam Version (v.2.700.0), a free update for the game which brings the game up to date with latest technologies and improvements for players. Since its release, COH has been among the most-played games on Steam by concurrent players, surpassing 500,000 simultaneous players on average per day since launch (and recently reaching more than 2 million at one moment). A new player would need to log on more than once per day for nearly three years to experience every map in the game! The v2.700. 0 update brings new units to the game, including the new NATO Panzer Elite units, the improved British and Canadian units, and two completely new maps. The six maps from the v2.700.0 update will be available for free download through Steam on Tuesday, October 25th . The update also features a number of technical improvements for players, including: • Faster multi-core CPU performance • Improved multi-core GPU performance on AMD graphics cards • Reduced CPU load when playing battles in a skirmish mode match • Reduced amount of time it takes to spawn a unit from the battlefield is a free patch released by SEGA on August 31st 2014 for market launch in mainland Europe and North America. It confirmed the availability of the fictional Waffen-SS Leibstandarte Division, a new multiplayer mode called "Blitzkrieg" and a brand new map called "Operation Husky". Operation Husky is a map featuring the North African Campaign offering a very different experience for players. The patch also fixed issues with freezing and crashing, awarding achievements for account logins to improve the multiplayer connection and stability, and added a number of other improvements. The update was free to all players on both PC and SteamOS/Linux platforms, while being purchasable for $9.99 through Arc. There are currently four official campaigns available to play through the CoH1-4 campaigns (excluding the original Invasion): World at War, Barbarossa, Ostfront and Final Fronts. There are also the two "tutorial" campaigns (Provincial Archives and Normandy) of World at War, and the feature-length "story" campaign for Barbarossa titled Operation Warlord. In addition to these, SEGA seeks to develop (but is not promising that they will be released) such campaigns such as The Longest Day (Italy/Sicily), The Guns of August (France) and Dunkirk (Dunkirk evacuation). Rumors also state that an expansion of the original invasion with a separate U.S. campaign with a different storyline is in development. The initial release contained a wide variety of multiplayer maps, though certain individual maps were restricted to particular modes or particular eras in CoH's full scope of time periods. As of CoH: Steam, all multiplayer maps are available in all modes and eras, though there are still several historical battles which have been restricted based on their nature (such as the Winter War being disabled from being played due to its being impossible to win when it was originally created). Several new multiplayer maps have been added since the release, including some that have proven controversial (such as New Guinea) for their balance concerns.
